HOW TO GROW LONG + HEALTHY HAIR
These are a few of my best tips that I personally have seen AMAZING results from! If you start following them now, before you realise your hair will be an amazing lush mane of beautiful + envious locks🥰
MY TOP 4 DON’TS
DON'T get a haircut too often
Every 12 weeks is great for only 1/2 an inch. But if you have visibly ratty ends…. I’m sorry but they need to go 🙈
DON'T wash your hair every day
This will make your hair dry, frizzy and hard to tame. Try to cut back by shampooing your hair every other day, then eventually to once or twice a week. Dry shampoo is a GODSEND if you hair gets very oily! 💇🏽♀️
DON'T use excessive heat on your hair
Heat styling no more than once a week is KEY to growing long + HEALTHY hair. 👱🏼♀️✨ Hot tools + dryers ALL damage your hair, no matter how much heat protectant you use. The internal bonds that hold your hair together break down at 70℃… Most straighteners are around 185℃ mark. Do you see why over heat styling will cause it to snap more and more?
DON'T be a hair colour chameleon
If you keep going from blonde to dark brown and back again… you will NEVER get that healthy hair you dream about.👱🏼♀️👩🏼🦰👩🏽🦱 You have to realise all that continuous lightening + colouring isn't helping your hair at all! Instead, mixing up the type of blonde you have is easy and requires little damage, rather than going from colour extremes every few months🌈
DON’T be rough when brushing it
Mechanical damage is much more common than chemical damage when it comes to talking about how damaged hair is caused! ⚙️🛠 To prevent this, start from the bottom and work your way up slowly + gently until you reach your roots and all the knots are out. 🪢 NEVER brush your hair without a detangling spray or leave in treatment in your mid lengths to ends. I LOVE my @thewetbrush original to prepare hair best before I blow dry!💇🏼♀️
NOW ONTO THE DO’S
DO eat healthy
You have to be conscious of what you eat on your healthy hair journey and with a balanced diet, you can make your scalp and follicles healthier, which will lead to hair that looks AND feels better… YOU ALSO WILL FEEL BETTER! Foods like eggs, spinach, salmon, sweet potatoes, blueberries, and chicken are all AMAZING for healthy hair, skin + nails🥗🥑🥚🫐🍓🎣🍗
DO take the supplement Silica
It’s best taken in a liquid form, not capsule and works a charm for strengthening your strands. This can only be purchased from a chemist. 🧪⚛️
DO use TWO forms of heat protectant when heat styling
One is best on WET hair BEFORE you blow dry. The other is best on DRY hair BEFORE you use your tong/wand/straightener.
DO stick to loose + flowy hairstyles
Traction alopecia is hair loss that’s caused by repeatedly pulling on the hair repeatedly which loosens the hair shaft in its follicle. You can develop this condition if you often wear your hair in a tight ponytail, bun, or braids.. and ESPECIALLY if you use chemicals or heat on your hair too! Traction alopecia can be reversed if you stop pulling your hair back! Loose braids, pony tails, claw clips or just simply DOWN are perfect! If you don’t intervene soon enough, the hair loss may be permanent😢
